…he’s my brother! (part 2)
So, of all the roles in life that I’ve either gained by default, or taken on voluntarily, the one that tops them all and gives me the greatest joy is the title of “grandmother” (or ‘Gaga’ to my grandkids). And when we had 4 grandsons, almost one after the other, I was over the moon! Hence, it cannot be any surprise to anyone, that this post is solely to introduce you to grandsons #2 and #4.
Though they are just 5 and 2, I’ve learned everything there is to know about dinosaurs and superheroes in these past 5 years. And having raised three very girlie girls, I truly did not know that bugs and spiders were an essential part of a little boy’s life!! Now, GS#4 imitates his older brother in literally everything, but it took me by surprise at how quickly he found out from his brother, that the path to Gaga’s hazelnut wafer rolls… was via Gaga’s heart! 🙂 All it takes is a soft, “Gaga honey, could I have a cookie?” Oh my heart! It becomes a puddle of gooey honey, for sure! <3 (And I can tell you it never matters that lunch or dinner is just minutes away!)
But then, on the other hand, imitation can bring it’s own frustrations – especially to a 5 year old, who totally does not understand why his 2 year old brother wants only his Black Panther toy – and nothing else!! Until a few hours later, when the magic happens. The little one cries for his mama who has gone out shopping (and Gaga just doesn’t cut it at the time), GS #2’s sweet heart melts, and I can soon see two small heads together, and hear the murmur of “don’t cry, bwother. It’s okay. Mama’s coming soon.”
And sometimes in life, that’s all one needs isn’t it? A shoulder to cry on. And of course, it would help greatly… if that shoulder belonged to one’s brother!
